Throughout my early working life as a specialist paediatric oncology nurse I kept active and fit with dance and aerobics. However, 18 years ago I sustained an injury in a car crash which damaged my neck and arm. Unable to run or participate in aerobics sessions, I explored other ways to recondition my body after surgery. Pilates allowed me to regain movement and strength without compromising my recovery.
I then decided to train to teach Pilates to others. I initially trained with the Body Control Pilates school, with whom I have undertaken advanced training including specialist post-surgery Pilates, antenatal and post-natal care and Pilates using a Reformer. I am a registered fitness professional.
Teaching Pilates allows me to encourage clients of all ages and ability not to be frightened of using their bodies, exploring their range of movement and increasing their strength.
I am passionate about Pilates and its effectiveness for everyone.
